On Vacation

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I’ve not been posting for a bit, lots been happening, but currently I am visiting my Mom in BC.  I am working on my rewites, doing my due diligence and studying everything I can about formating my screenplay.  Do you research, plan your writing, build a frame work to begin your writing.

I will be conducting a screenwriting workshop in early June, so I will keep you all posted, in the mean time, keep writing.

The next stage of screenwriting: Rewrites!

So, my critique is back, and so it’s back to screenwriting 101!  Now the real process of making my film script is to a salable movie prospect, the guided rewrite.  Now that I have a professional critque, from a fellow screenwriter, and it has renewed the figor in my desire to be a “Hollywood” film writer.

Formatting it critical to any screenplay and mine needs some work, so I’m going to document the process as I’m going through it myself.  To begin with you start with the “Bible” of screenwriters, by David Trottier.  Order your copy now, if you’re serious about screenwriting, my original copy was on loan from the Didsbury Library, a much earlier version, so I’m ordering a new copy to refresh myself.  Writing is learning to profect your craft, as best you can, as a screenwriter, you start here:

Another part of my formatting that also needs some intensive work, the comments have to be moved into the “Action” tags, not in the dialogue tags as they are now.  That’s process gets reworked as I work through the  script fomatting.

My characters need more development and after a couple of years apart from each other I’m learning more about what I wanted my characters to reveal about themselves.  I’m really looking forward to this rewrite and getting to know my characters, and my movie, much better, and I’ve got a few weeks with not a lot else to do.

I’ll keep you posted on my progress and post samples of the “before and after” shots of my film.

The good news to the story is good and with a bit of work on my part this could be a winning movie in he near future, so that’s all the motivation I need, so ”on with the show this is it!”

Save Rainforests, Save Lives

http://www.saverainforestssavelives.org/
Save Rainforests Save Lives reminds us that the rainforests are our best hope for finding cures for cancer, AIDs and other life-threatening diseases.

Today, Sunday January 11th, 2009, I’ve reach 102 square feet of rainforest saved, through ‘Lil Green Patch and ‘Lil Blue Cove, two applications on my Facebook account, that I’ve been actively supporting.  Why do I do this?  Our future, as this video depicts, is in the rainforests of our world, yet to be explored before we cut them down, these are the final frontier for the human race.

Global warming, climate change, mass deforestation and the raping of our seas are contributing to a no win situation for our planet unless we all get together and do something about it.  If that is only the simple act of logging into your Facebook account, which you do everyday anyway, and sending out a message to 20 friends, all at once.  That simple act saves 2 sq ft of rainforest, and if you use both app’s, double that to 4 sq ft of forest, saved from devastation.  So as a resolution for the new year, for a new beginning to helping heal our ailing planet, join me on Facebook, if not for you own lives, do it for your grandchildren’s grandchildren lives.

Next week I’ll start counting down my top movie favorites, so more film reviews coming from Blaine56.com 1 soon, …

Blaine561’s Movie review: “The Jungle Book”

One of the fun movies to come out of Disney’s studios during the mid-sixties, trying to quell an air of unrest in American society, it shows a darker side of Walt’s talent and his influence of socical attitudes in his films.  Being a screenwriter, it is facinating to how a director interpets a work.

A story of being lost in the world, of not finding your real place, “The Jungle Book” a classic tale retold many times before and since, until finding out who you really are.  “I want to be like you” will sit in your mind for days, is center of the writer’s philosophy.  From online-literature.com In his essay titled “Rudyard Kipling” George Orwell called him “the prophet of British Imperialism in its expansionist phase.”   The age we live in now is as relevant as in Disney’s social and political turmoil, only the names and the faces have change, the issues still remain.

In these troubled times we all need a little excape from our lives, this movie will do that for you.  Whether an adult remembering younger years or a youngster watching this for the first time, you’ll want to watch it again and again.  With technology’s advances since it’s original production in ‘67, it’s a better film for it, sharper color, only a richness Walt Disney could only dream of, but would not only be pleased with, but proud to have his name associated with this movie.  Add it to your collection today.

Amazon.com essential video
Disney’s 1967 animated feature seems even more entertaining now than it did upon first release, with a hall-of-fame vocal performance by Phil Harris as Baloo, the genial bear friend of feral child Mowgli. Based on fiction by Rudyard Kipling, the film goes its own way as Disney animation will, but the strong characters and smart casting (George Sanders as the villainous tiger, Shere Khan) make it one of the studio’s stronger feature-length cartoons. Songs include “The Bare Necessities” and “Trust in Me.” –Tom Keogh

Product Description
One of the most popular Disney films ever, THE JUNGLE BOOK is a song-filled celebration of friendship, fun, and adventure set in a lush and colorful world. Inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s “Mowgli” stories, Disney’s 19th animated masterpiece was the last animated feature that had Walt Disney’s personal touch. The jubilant adventure begins when Mowgli, a little boy raised by wolves, is urged by his friend Bagheera, a wise old panther, to seek safety in the man village. Feeling very much at home in the jungle, Mowgli resists and runs off. Much to Bagheera’s dismay, Mowgli meets a new friend with a happy-go-lucky philosophy of life — Baloo the Bear, a lovable “jungle bum.” Together, the three buddies find the journey back to civilization anything but civilized! They encounter a crazy orangutan, the hypnotic and sly snake Kaa, and the menacing Shere Khan! Fully restored for this 30th anniversary edition, this enduring classic swings with jazzy toe-tapping music, including the Academy Award(R)-nominated “The Bare Necessities,” and the freewheeling “I Wan’na Be Like You”! A thrilling story for all ages, THE JUNGLE BOOK is an absolute necessity for your video collection.

Blaine561’s latest Movie Review – Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas

On Christmas eve, gather the family around the screen and watch another classic tale of the true meaning of the season, what is the spirit of Christmas.  If you’e not convinced this is a film worth having in you movie collection, read the review at the end.  This came out the year after Charlie Brown’s Christmas, but Dr. Seuss’ talent for writing for a younger generation, captured a whimsical quality, and it stuck in your brain forever.  If “You’re a mean one, Mr, Grinch, …” doesn’t get you started hummimg the song, you’ve never seen this work of art and you’re in for a treat.  If, on the other hand, you can’t stop singing it, I bring you relief and renewed happiness.  Merry Christmas Everyone!

DVD Book

Amazon.com essential video

Accept no substitutes. The 1966 television adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ timeless book How the Grinch Stole Christmas!–about an anti-Santa who tries to heist the holiday only to learn a powerful lesson–is a classic in its own right, and looking better than ever in its 50th Birthday Deluxe Edition. (For those doing the math, the 50 years is counting from the book’s 1957 publishing date rather than the show’s broadcast date.) The most significant improvement is in the digital transfer, cleaning up fuzz and specks and restoring the proper colors to the program. While the awful earlier DVDs showed the Grinch in a mustard-yellow color, this edition restores his proper green gleam. Special features are mostly ported over from the previous DVD–the Horton Hears a Who program, a featurette on the songs, Phil Hartman’s special edition version, pencil tests, etc. minus the commentary track–but there is a new 15-minute featurette, “Dr. Seuss and the Grinch: From Whoville to Hollywood.” While it starts out as a fluff piece aimed at the younger set (interviews with kids, some rapping), it does provide some interesting information, including interviews with the widows of Theodore Geisel and Chuck Jones and clips of Geisel and Jones’ Private Snafu. (No mention of Jim Carrey, however.) –David Horiuchi

Blaine561 here with my latest Movie Reviews Charles Shultz’s classic, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”

 Hi everyone, I’m back!

Been away for awhile, but now I’ve gotten a few things straightened out and so I’m now good to go.  As you can see, I’ve changed the layout, my life’s motto has always been, “Life’s a Beach!” so why not reflect that in my blog.

This blog was created with no specific purpose, but to inform my readers on a variety of topics and maybe because of that lacked focus.  I’ll be the first to admit it, I wasn’t following my plan, so I’ve taken some time off to re-assess things and come up with some format changes.

My passion for movies, and film in general, has driven me to write my own screenplay, “Power Over Others” and I’ve just put out the big bucks to have a budget done.  Believe me it’s not cheap, but I will be doing a post on the service I’m using, they are the best.  I did this in response to an Indian Producer asking about my film script, and though he is a very well know producer, he has budget limitations, but it has gotten my budget done now.

My passion for movies has me watching them, not only as a way to unwind, but also as a screenwriter.  There are many sites online that will allow you to watch, current releases and classics, some of them are actually free.  All of these are of a lower resolution than the theater or your own home theater, but are good enough to watch on your laptop.  YouTube and Google have archived many of the old classics, and the latest report this author has is YouTube is currently in negotiations with some of the major studios to show their movies online.

There have been many words lobbed back and forth about illegal downloading, but what the “Big Studios” aren’t getting is the opportunity to reach a whole new audience for their product.  It is not atypical to their character to only look at the bottom-line, so it is “We The People” in “Cyberspace” to show them the way.

Up front Disclaimer:  Gotta put up the gobbledee goop: This site or its author do not endorse illegal downloading, period.  I support the artist, writer, musician, filmmaker, producers, etc. who make all this “entertainment” we all enjoy.

So here is “my bottom-line” and I hope you will all help support my efforts and my convictions.  I am going to review some of my favorite movies, bring you what others are saying about it and the movie itself, or a link to where to watch.  Under each film will be links to purchase the DVD for your home video collection.

It’s that simple guys, show them the film, if it’s good then they will want to watch it again and can then order it then and there.

Is that not the way to do it?  Yes!

Is there anything wrong with doing this?  No!

Do I expect to get rich from this?  Not on your life, this is set up on an Amazon Associate account, so a couple a bucks every month so I can buy more movies for my film collection would be good enough for me.  My purpose in doing this is to get the idea in the heads of the movie studios some of the possibilities the Internet could bring as a great marketing tools.

My first video is not actually a movie, but don’t be so picky, it is the best seasonal “movie” that anyone born since the end of the “Baby Boom” has seen at least a dozen times, Charles Shultz’s classic, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”.  Yes, “It’s a Wonderful Life” is “The Classic Christmas Movie” hands down on every list out there, but this video is closer to the hearts of my generation.

Tears well up, just thinking about the opening scene and the music of the Vince Guaraldi trio’s “Skating” and being a bit of a C.B. when it comes to Christmas, it is easy to settle in once again into childhood memories.  How many of us tap our feet every time we hear “Linus and Lucy” more commonly known as the Charlie Brown Christmas song?  Or, during Linus’ recital of the first noel, is there a dry eye on the house?  I hope you enjoy this classic, my Christmas present to the world, “Merry Christmas Everyone!”

Not much needs to be said by me, except that I hope you “get the message” and as Jethro Tull once sang in a ditty, “The Christmas spirit is not one you drink!”  Btw: the best time of year to watch this, other than Christmas Eve, is a nice summer evening, sitting on the beach.  Share Christmas year-round.  I’ll be bring more holiday classics over the next few days and in the new year, I’ll be counting down my top movies list, see you at the movies!

Amazon.com Review:
This television classic features the Peanuts characters in the story of Charlie Brown’s problematic efforts to mount a school Christmas pageant. Everybody’s on board: Lucy, Snoopy, Schroeder, Pig-Pen, but the biggest impression is surely made by Linus, who stops the show with his recitation from the gospels of the story of Christ’s birth. –Tom Keogh

Blaine561’s Political Issues Update for Nov 02, 2008, 2 Days To Go!

So it is only two days to go until the most important election of our modern times for our struggling planet.  Though we in the rest of the world cannot vote in this election, we want to have our say in what will happen after Tuesday’s vote.  The most important thing I can do is bring to light what is the most ideal we have in a free western society, is GET OUT AND VOTE, it is your duty.  Please don’t take a lesson form Canadian’s who didn’t vote this election in record numbers, it has to be the other way around, it has to be a record for voting numbers.

I have been collecting video clips for the past several weeks, and I wanted my second to last posting before the election be give you the lighter side of this election, but I found some really scary stuff out their about the Republican’s VP candidate, Sarah Palin.  As you saw in my last post, she’s someone to be made fun of because she opens her mouth, a lot, and nothing intelligent comes out of it.  This woman is "one heatbeat from the Presidency" and what is really known about her and her extreme right-wing politics.  Here is a brief collection of some of the things I found today on YouTube, …

I need to end on this, it already has 503,144 views, in the end she knew her fate was seal, listen closely to her final comments, and her tone of voice, "Oh my God, I really screwed up this time!"

This started as a post on something I heard on CBC this morning, but has blossumed into an collection of funny and informative clips on the curent US election. I do not own a TV at the moment so I was seeing these videos with a fresh eye, though I have seen short clips on CNN.com Live. Please, don’t get me started on television, that’s another post on my list. But, as David Letterman said, "The road to the White House goes through his show!" and to ditch an appearance, a month before the election, and then lies about it, is not the dumbest thing to do, getting caught in makeup on another CBS studio set, in the same building, waiting to go on the air with Katie Couric. Now that’s not only dumb, that’s rude.
